And viralrecipes is my little corner of the internet!
I launched viralrecipes in 2019 after a decade of working as a graphic designer in Austin, Texas. It all began in the summer of 2017 when I started posting quick, visual recipes on Instagram to keep my friends fed during endless client meetings. The response was surprisingly strong, and by early 2018 I was compiling those ideas into a simple blog.
Fast‑forward to today, viralrecipes reaches about 150,000 unique visitors each month and has a newsletter community of 2,300 food‑loving readers. I publish roughly 50 new recipes every month, ranging from 5‑minute snacks to weekend dinner projects. In March 2023 the site was featured on the Food Network’s “Best Home Cooking” roundup, and in September 2024 I partnered with a local grocery co‑op for a seasonal recipe series that sold out in days.
I live in a modest bungalow in East Austin with my husband, Alex, and our two kids, Lily (7) and Noah (4). When I’m not whisking batter or tweaking a photo, you’ll find me hiking the Greenbelt, digging through my vinyl collection, or hunting for the perfect brunch spot on a lazy Sunday. My favorite kitchen tools are a trusty cast‑iron skillet, a hand‑crank pasta maker, and a set of mismatched wooden spoons that have been in my family for generations.
One quirky habit I’ve kept since my early blog days is writing each recipe title on a small piece of notebook paper before I type it up. It forces me to pause, think about the flavor story, and makes the final post feel a little more personal. That tiny ritual is a reminder that every dish starts with a simple idea—and a lot of love.
